ADAM'S APPLE

Let us look at a mystery.

In all esoteric teachings, we find the ancient symbol of the pentagram depicting man the microcosm. What is its significance? It has been graphically illustrated in Leonardo da Vinci's famous drawing of a spread-eagled human figure encompassed by a circle: the outstretched arms and legs make contact with the circle's circumference, as does the head, thus taking on a configuration roughly parallel to the five directions of the pentagram, or five-pointed star.

The enclosing circle itself may be said to represent the inner world, or microcosm, in which corporeal man finds himself at present. Therein he is made a prisoner of his five physical senses, of the five elements of which he is visibly composed, and of the five races in which he may choose to materialize for any given cycle of earthly development as a flesh-form being.

First, let us consider the five races.1

In their formative period, we are told, they had their origins in five general areas of tribal gatherings with common goals, which gradually took on national characteristics. The antecedents of the white race occupied the region of Mt. Ararat and part of what is now Iran, as well as the Carpathian Mountains and the Caucasus, later embracing a portion of India. The red race had its primitive origins in Atlantis, and later, with the final evacuations, completed its development in America. The yellow race emerged in what was then called the Gobi Land, an Asiatic remnant of the largely sunken Lemuria; it incorporated much of Indo-China at the time, northward to what is now the Gobi Desert. And the brown race? It took form principally in the Andes, among the prehistoric peoples known as the Ohums, with a strong Lemurian infusion of separately evolved tribal elements from the central and southeasternmost portions of that lost continent. As for the black race, mistakenly regarded by many anthropologists as the oldest simply because of its relatively undisturbed skeletal remains throughout the periods of cataclysmic earth changes, its origins may be traced to the Sudan and what is now Upper Egypt and the Eastern Sahara.

Each of these five distinct racial groupings, it must be realized, began its development under a gradual evolutionary process requiring a relatively long "gestation period," as it were. Yet there was apparently a common genetic pattern in the making, established by Amilius, the Creator, in molding the form that would eventually emerge. The process was presumably being guided in the earth plane by early forerunners of the developing new root race of flesh-form man. (Asapha, it will be remembered, was one of those forerunners, who gave the first laws to the sons and daughters of men, more than 50,000 years ago, in prehistoric Egypt.)

The "official" entry of Adamic man may be computed to have occurred about 14,000 years ago, before the final demise of Atlantis and at the midpoint of the Virgoan Age. (Our evidence for this dating will be presented a bit further along.) It took place, we are told,
